We are home already. River is sleeping. The surgery was very quick. River was super groggy afterwards and very ticked off and hungry but fell asleep on the way home. The surgeon said that both ears were still infected (he just finished a 10 day abx regimen yesterday). She said there was thick pus in one ear which worried her a bit and a lot of fluid and some pus in the other one. So she put him on yet another antibiotic and we have to see the pedi in 7 to 10 days for a recheck of his ears. Then we go to see her again for a follow up on the 12th.

River's surgery is today.. hopefully. We have to be there at 6:30 so we are leaving here in about 15-20 minutes. His surgery is scheduled for 8am. He's the first of the day. I'm hoping they will still be able to do it. River is congested and coughing. It sounds like it's in his nose and not his lungs so hopefully they'll still go through with it. The nose congestion is what happens that causes his ear infections and then his ear infections cause his nose congestion so he stays sick. He woke up last night at 1am wired for sound.. ready to party. So we let him play for about an hour and then I cuddled on the couch with him when he got fussy and gave him some warm water (he was allowed to have clear liquids up until 4am) and then held and rocked him and he fell asleep in my arms. We laid him back down at 2:30 and went back to bed ourselves until 5. This is my second day in a row of getting up at 5 am.. only this time is on 5 hours of sleep. YUCK I'll update when we get home

My little boy is growing up! Where the hell has time gone. Tonight is the first night in 9 months that River has gone to sleep with out the CD of rain playing in the background. *sniff* He has started to eat table food. He's able to walk as long as he holding one of my hands. He's getting so big!!! OMG he's 10 1/2 months old. I want my little baby back. I'm going to be the mom of a toddler soon. OMG.

We rearranged the living room area yesterday so that River would be able to have more space to walk/crawl/play in. It feels much more open and much better for him. He doesn't want to grasp the fact that he isn't allowed to play with the computers so we are saying alot of "no touch" and redirecting him but other than that, I love the new set up.

I have 4 days left of school before the winter break. We are doing cardiovascular and Urinary systems right now. Fun Fun. I'll have a midterm in one of the classes the day I come back and I'll have a final in other class a week later. YUCK. We got our half lighter pins on Friday. It's a pin that the PN students receive for making it half way through the program. Technically our half way point isnt until the middle of January but who cares.

River has surgery on Thursday. I have to call the hospital on Wednesday to find out what time he needs to be there and what time we need to stop feeding him before hand. The ENT that saw him said that the surgery is only going to take about 20 minutes total. 45 minutes of recovery time and then he'll be able to come home. She says it's nearly pain free and whatever pain he does experience will be alleviated by simple tylonel or motrin which she suggest we give him for the first 24 hours regardless. I know it's not a major surgery but I'm still nervous. So yeah, obviously I won't be going to my clinical rotation on Thursday. Oh well. They'll live.

We are finally getting rid of a bunch of River's old stuff.. a bunch of 3-6 month clothes that he can't really fit into anymore and some toys, burp cloths, etc etc that we don't use anymore. My little boy is growing up... I'm ready for another one LOL

River had his appointment with the ENT doctor today. She wants to put tubes in his ears. He goes for surgery 12/21.. I hope it helps him..

I had my final today in Integ. I'm officially a Semester 3 nursing student. YAY.

Too tired to think of anything else to type right now.

Today is my last day of my 6 day weekend. I am ready to go back to school. I'm not used to having all this free time and it's confusing LOL. Wednesday I went to work with Linda and helped her get closer to caught up on stuff she's behind on. Barely made a dent but at least I made the effort. Thursday a friend of mine came over to watch a movie and have some take out Chinese (Yummy!!!). Friday, Doug came home early from work to start his weekend a few hours early but we really didn't do much. On Saturday we went to a parenting event. We have someone that comes from a state run organization once every 2 weeks to give us things we can do with River to build his development skills etc.. Well each time she comes out or each time we go to a parenting support group they hold once a month we are awarded what they call Baby bucks and twice a year they hold a "parenting event" where they have a baby bucks store and other activities to do. This one on Saturday was their Christmas/Holidays one. They had a bunch of brand new toys donated to the event and we were given a chance to spend them. Most of the event was REALLY BORING. River was SO tired but we wanted to wait for the baby bucks store because we'd saved about 140 bucks for it. Around 11am "Santa" came to visit all the kids. We got in line to get a picture done just because we thought it would be great memorbilia later on and we were one person away from Santa River fell asleep. We gave him to Santa anyway but he never woke up. LOL So we decided to try it again later once he woke up. Just as Santa was about to get up and leave, River woke up so we got his picture taken.....

Santa

(You can still see the red mark on his cheek from him sleeping on my shoulder LOL)

Then when we got back from seeing Santa they had the Baby Bucks Store. We made out with lots of goodies for the munchkin... Here is what we got him (we've also gotten him a few other things for his loot)

Today 008

Sunday we didn't do anything but relax because the weekend was over. I am off today still but still got up about 7 because I don't want to get TOO far off getting used to getting up at 6:10.. Doug went in to get River up this morning and decided to get a picture of him sleeping first :)

Today 006

He'll be 10 months old in a week! Where the heck has the time gone???

My day today will consist mostly of trying to straighten up the house which looks like a small tornado went through it this weekend LOL. Oh the fun :)

Kick ASS!!!!!

So we've been trying to figure out what to get River for Christmas/Yule.

We decided on a few toys and a few videos (from the Baby Einstein collection) and some diapers perhaps.

Yesterday we went to Wal-Mart and looked around after all the sales had ended to see if anythign striked our fancy as far as toys for River. We found a few things we wanted but decided to wait until after Christmas to get them because we want to make sure that people don't get him the things we were planning on getting him and what not. But I still wanted to get him a few videos.

So I got on line this morning and went to E-bay to play around for a while and checked out what they had as far as Baby Einstein videos saw that they had a bunch of videos and some box sets. I ended up bidding and winning on a 22 DVD Box Set brand new which normally retails for about 370 dollars... I got it for 51.00 shipped :) WOW!!!! So he'll have the entire DVD collection here in a few days. YAY!!!!!!

So the next thing on my list is more diapers.. which are hella expensive but I found out the other day that we can layaway diapers online. :) So I'm going to put down a certain amount on a dozen more diapers and then pay it off over the next month or 2 months and he'll have another 12 diapers:) YAY!!!!

Winning the auction so totally made my day :)

River's WBV was today.
He is 21 lbs 6 oz and 28.5 inches long. But he had also just ate before he went so he probably weighs a bit less than that.
And that was the fun part..
She checked his ears and said they look worse than before we started the antibiotics and switched his antibiotic to Augmentin and referred him to an ENT. She wants to see him back in 2 weeks for a recheck of his ears there.
She listened to his lungs and said they sound MUCH better (YAY!!!) and decided take his breathing treatments down to once a day and see how he does.
He got 2 shots and hated them but as soon as I picked him up he stopped crying with in a minute.
His next appointment is February 12th for his 1 year :)

Hey All,

It's been a while. I'm tired. So I don't know how long this entry will be but I felt that I should update before it got to be too much stuff to update about.

School is going good. I just completed my second rotation of clinicals. Am getting to do alot more now. Pass meds, give injections, document on offical paperwork, insert NG tubes, all sorts of cool stuff. :) But it's tiring as HELL!!!! Tomorrow I have a final in Med Surg THANK THE GODS. That was a 7 week class and it was a bitch. We still have the same instructor for another class though but luckily there are only 8 days of actual theory for that class. UGHH that's going to be a bitch. From what everyone says the next class "Integumentary" is that instructors favorite subject so she is really anal about it blah blah blah.. she is already overly anal as it is.

Doug and I's 1 year anniversary was Friday. He took me to The Fondue House for dinner. It was a 2 1/2 hour affair but it was AWESOME! It was my first time trying Fondue and I can't wait to go ago. We were going to go to a movie afterward but I was exaughsted and stuffed so we came home and just relaxed which was just as nice too :) It was so romantic, he made the reservations 2 weeks ago and managed to keep it a surprise until we pulled up. I did know we were going there but I had figured it out on my own :)

River had to go to the doctor last Tuesday because his cough wasn't getting any better. She says he had another ear infection and put him on an antibiotic to clear that up. She also listened to the cough and his lungs and put him on a nebulizer for a week with Albuterol. She says he MIGHT have asthma :( I hope not :( He is officially 9 months old now and He goes back tomorrow afternoon for his 9 month Well Baby so I will update again tomorrow with all the good stuff and what she says and all that.

Doug and I are finally caught up in bills for the most part. I think we have one more outstanding bill and the rest are caught up and paid and all that. YAY!!!! Doug has been working at Comcast for 2 1/2 months now. YAY!!!! Anyway. I need to go shower and get ready for tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing good.

I 'll leave you with a couple pictures of the munchkin from last week.

So today was a very stressful day for me. Why??? Because I gave my first injections. Not on a patient, but on a classmate. But still.. She said I did WONDERFUL and that she didn't even feel me stick her. I don't know if she was just saying that because she is a friend of mine or if she actually meant it LOL I guess we'll figure out on Wednesday when I start my clinical rotation in the hospital and have to give them on patients who aren't my friend. LOL I actually gave a total of 3 injections which I think it ONE of the few things I was truly apprehensive about mostly because it's invasive.

We got our first grades back on our Nutrition Unit Exam 1 and I didn't do so hot. Apparently no one else did either. The highest grade was an 83 (ouch) and that wasn't mine (double ouch). I guess I need to start focusing more on Nutrition and less on Med Surg. We got our mid term evaluations today in Med Surg and I have a 91 overall grade and a 93 on the Midterm itself. YAY!!!! Only one more grade in that class which is our Final and it's 40% of our grade. Maybe... just maybe I can hold onto this A.

River and I are both really thrown off by this whole daylight savings time thing.. He wants to go to bed an hour earlier and I get up an hour earlier and we're both just TIRED. BLAH. The poor kid has a cough that just won't let up. He's had it a few weeks now but only when we are home for the most part. I think there is something here (the cats perhaps) that he is allergic to. I'm not going to make a sudden move and throw every cat out but I do think we are going to get rid of 3 of them (leaving us with 2) and see if it starts to get better.

Don't know if I mentioned already but we got a new computer. It arrived on Saturday from Dell. I love it. It's got a beautiful monitor, fast speed, lots of memory and everything. YAY!!! We'll be paying on it for the next forever but hey what else is new. It's not a big deal. We are officially caught up on bills. YAY!!! Now maybe we can start being mature people and put money away for stuff that we need and not stuff that we want. HA!

Let's see... we got approved for the funding for daycare.. we went from paying 155/week to 80/week. YAY!!!!!! That will most definately help out in saving up some money and what not..

Had a final today for Pharmacology. I ended up with a final grade of a 92 which is good. Last Wednesday I missed a quiz because of some problems with my carpool to school and what not and the DON told us that we would be able to make the quiz up because of the extinuating circumstances. We told the instructor what the DON had said and she spoke with the DON and the decided that we wouldn't be able to make it up because if they allowed us to make up the grade then they would have to start allowing other people who missed quizzes to make up the grade. Fine I can understand that, was also told it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Right. So I went back to my seat and factored in the 0 that I was going to recieve on the quiz and discovered that it was going to bring my 92 average down to an 82. Long story short, I freaked out, the DON and the instructor sat down and showed me how THEY figured out grades and come to find out it only brought me down to an 89. Still not a good enough grade for me. So I knew I had to get an A to end up with an A in the class.. Well I did it :) I ended up with a 94 in the test and a 92 on the final or something like that. YAY YAY! I have gotten an A in every class other than the very first class which I chalk up to trying to get back into the "swing of things". So we start nutrition tomorrow. We have 19 students left as of today... some people didn't pass the Dosage Calculation part of the test today and have to stay after tomorrow for remediation of it don't know if they will still be in class or what happens. We shall see.

This weekend was most enjoyable. Doug and I both had Saturday and Sunday off and we were able to stay home and veg on the computers and play Diablo 2 and do NOTHING. It was blissfully wonderful :)

Munchkin boy is doing good. Nothing new to report there other than the lady from the state came this week and did his 9 month Denver development test on him even though he is only 8 months. He scored no lower than 10 month level and as high as 14 1/2 month levels on the different skills they asked about and had him do. I have one smart little boy :)

I hate dealing with banks in any shape or form. Absolutely can't stand it. Whenever we have a bank account we overdraw it because they pull money out of it in a strange way so that we don't have the funds to cover it so we end up with NSF fees out the butt. So we stopped using banks and started using a Pre-paid Visa card.. no over draft fees right? HA.. yeah but they let you go into the negative balance and not tell you about it. We've been siting in the negative by 60 bucks for 3 months since we stopped using that card while Doug was out of work. When Doug got his paycheck a few weeks ago we put it in the card and surprise surprise it was a LOT smaller than it should've been. So we made sure not to go over this time. Well this a few days ago we get a call from VyStar (the bank we have our car loan through) saying they never recieved their September payment. LIKE HELL THEY DIDN'T. I have the reciept to prove it so they can shove it. UGHHHH I hate banks.

We are still behind on a few bills and even though we ARE getting caught up I feel like we aren't and it sucks. Doug got paid today and it's basically spent. I hate having no money. I can't wait to be done with school so we can stop worrying about this living pay check to paycheck thing. School is going good though which is great. We got our Midterm evaluations for Pharmacology. I have a 92. :) We have 10 days until the final and that's including the weekends. I'm ready for Pharmacology to be over and be one class closer. We are almost half way though the Med Surg class and I have a 92 in that as well which is impressive because the teacher says few people end up with A's in her class. We'll see. We lost 3 more people in class so we are down to 23 students right now. The smaller the class gets the closer we get together. :)

River is doing good. He is offically 8 months old now. He's so ready to walk he just doesn't trust himself to take the plunge and let go. He still only has 2 teeth. But the BIG BIG news of the week is that he is no longer on Nutrimagen (the 26 dollar a can formula) he is now on Soy formula. YAY!!!!!! He won't eat any table food at all. Anything with texture and he gags. I guess he's just not ready, we'll try again after a while. I'm not worried. I have videos of the kiddo I'd like to share but I have no idea how to share them :( Every time I try and put them on here Xanga freaks and stops working.

A little less than month until Doug and I's offical 1 year anniversary. Go us!

OK so is it dumb for me to say that I finally feel like a mom? I mean I have felt like a mom of course but tonight while driving home from a friend's house with the baby sleeping his carseat in the back it just hit me full force that he was my son. That I was his mother. I nearly cried. Yes maybe it's because I'm tired but I just have never loved him so much as I do recently. When he was first born I loved him more than life itself just because he was finally here and he was (relatively speaking) healthy. But between 0-3 months.. I loved him in the "you have to love him because you are his mother" kinda way. I went through the motions because I was supposed to and I loved him because I was supposed to but I didn't feel that all powering crush you like a ton of bricks kind of love that I've heard moms talk about and I thought there was something wrong with me. I know now that it was because I had post partum depression and River was a difficult baby with being sick etc for the first few months but I felt so guilty. As he is getting older and I'm able to watch him grow and learn my love has just blossomed like I never thought possible. He is my everything.
Cheli On Monday, October 2, 2006

Tired has moved to a whole new level these last few weeks. I'm tired physically, mentally.. everything.. just tired. And whats worse is I can't sleep. Even when I can sleep in my body won't let me. I'm just tired.

School is going good I suppose. We are officially in our second semester now. We started Med Surg and Pharmacology last Thursday. We've gotten 2 grades in both classes.. in Pharm I have a 98 and 100. In Med Surg I have an 83 and don't know what the other grade is yet as we just took the quiz today but I think I did better on that assignment. I hope. Everyone told us that these two classes which last about 3 and 7 weeks respectively are the hardest two classes in the program because they are so extensive and important. Mrs. Lou our Med Surg teacher told us today that if we pass with an 80 grade we'll be happy (not us directly but the class in general) she said her class is hard. The Junior class started Med Surg with 30 students.. not one had been removed from the program. .after Med Surg they were down to only 19. They lost 11 people.. lets hope I'm not one of the 11 we lose.

Doug's work is going good. He's been there a little over 4 weeks so far. The changed his schedule for this week and next week to 2:30 to 11. Which means I am 100% responsible for River. Which means he has to stay at Daycare later every day so that I have time to study. I miss my little boy :( I know I am doing this for our future and what not but Goddess I miss him NOW. I feel like I am missing him growing up even though I'm not. He's getting so big. He'll be 8 months old in 8 days.. when did that happen? Other than that he's doing great, he is feeling better. He's cruising the couches now and just recently he started saying "dada" although he doesn't understand that "dada" means Daddy. He just says it right now. He has a doctor appointment tomorrow to follw up from his Double Ear Infection. I don't know if i'm going to go or not. I really dislike the doctor who we have to see because of the time we can get in plus I'll have to miss a little bit of school to take him and I really don't want to miss school for nothing. I'd rather save it for the next time he is sick or the next time I am.

We are almost completely caught up in bills.. A little bit left to pay on the cell phone and a little bit more to pay on the out of pocket to the school to get caught up and then we'll be good to go. Now if only Episcopal would come through so we aren't having to spend 310 dollars every 2 weeks on daycare life would be good.

I'm babbling now because I'm tired.. will talk to everyone later.

Cheli On Thursday, September 21, 2006

I haven't been this tired in a long time... I am beyond tired... every fiber of my body aches *including the wonderful migraine* and I am irritated as hell. The baby is getting on my nerves for no reason.. he's just being a baby but it's getting to me. He's tired too and he's sick which just adds to the fun. *sigh*

Yeah, we took River to the doctor Tuesday. He has a double ear infection and the doctor thinks he has allergies. He came home on 3 prescriptions and goes back to the doctor October 3rd for a recheck. That means he now has ear infection number 3 and 4. UGHHHH he's going to end up with tubes in his ears I just know it. Still only two teeth and boy is crabby. He's chewing on everything in sight but only the two. He goes November 13th (or was it 14th) for his 9 month well baby visit. Other than that.. he's doing great. Into everything and going everywhere. He's gotten good at pulling himself up on things and is trying to master the art of cruising the furniture but we're still no too sure about that.

Doug got a letter yesterday from Comcast saying that they will be here Saturday between 11 and 2 to install our cable stuff.. WOOO HOOOOOOO. That means come Saturday night we will have every channel plus the movies and the high speed internet. I can NOT wait. I am beyond sick of no TV and dial up. He also did shift bid today. He got the last 9am to 6pm shift available. But he doesn't know what days he'll work yet. *shrug* I'm glad in one way that he got this shift because that means he'll be home in the evenings to help me study and such. And he'll have every Sunday off and every other Satuday off. But that means the baby will have to be in daycare which mean 620 dollars a month in daycare expenses until the funds from the Episcopal thing come through to help us.. *sigh* That's almost half of Doug's monthly income..

I am almost done with my first clinical rotation. I go tomorrow and that's the last day. I'm glad that we had the chance to do this as it was a nice break from the monotany of sitting in a classroom 7 hours a day but I am not sorry to not have to be getting up at 4:50 in the morning and going to take care of old people. My patient this week was a really sweet woman who didn't really need me to help her with anything but I had to help everyone else help their patients and then help patients that weren't ours. It was very strenuous. I have a whole new appreciation for what a CNA does. I'm tired. On Monday we have a Practicum Final (basically a hands on final) and then Tuesday we have a writen final. Then we are done with our first semester of nursing school. YAY!!!!! We have Wednesday off as a "semester break" and Thursday we start Med Surge and Pharmacology..should be nice and stressful.

Where has the time gone?????? My baby will be 7 months old on Monday and today he cut his first TEETH... not just one but 2 broke the gums (one is about half way up and the other just starting) and 2 others are RIGHT behind them.. poor kiddo. I am so glad that he got them though, I didn't get my first teeth until I was 2 and I was worried that he would be late at that too. Awwwwww He's getting so big!!!!!
Cheli On Tuesday, September 5, 2006
Yesterday was less than fun... I woke up feeling wonderful.. cleaned the house a bit so we wouldn't have to worry about it this week and then noticed that I had a sharp pain in my abdomen.. kept watching it through out the day and it kept getting worse.. About 2 it got to the point that it was hard for me to inhale because it hurt to breathe so we decided we needed to get me checked out by the doctor to make sure it wasn't something like my appendix. So up to Baptist hospital we go.. Get there about 4 or so and it takes forever to get back and get seen. First they did a urinalysis and then blood work and said my white blood count was a little high which means a slight infection but nothing too much to worry about.. decided to do an ultrasound to see if maybe I had gallstones.. that came back clear. They decided then that they can give me some pain meds and decided to give me Morphine.. I was still hurting afterward.. but I was nice and zoned LOL So they decided to do a CT scan.. which means I had to drink the Barium Sulfate.. for those who have never drank this stuff.. BE VERY GLAD.. it taste like chalky mint banana (they flavor the crap with banana to supposedly make it taste better and then call it a smoothie @@) I had to drink 26 oz of the shit in 2 hours.. I drink most of the second one and then told the nursing I couldn't drink anymore or I'd puke.. he said I didn't have to. CT Scan came back clear.. he was about to discharge me and decided to run another test.. a blood gas test which involves drawing blood straight from an artery.. oh the fun. It too came back clear.. then the doctor decides he wants to admit me for observation because he has no clue what's wrong with me. I refused and signed myself out AMA came home about 4am and took an 800mg of IBProfin and then crashed and slept until 9am got up and basically slept most of the day until we went to get the baby.. I feel much better although I still hurt some. *sigh*

OK so it's been a while again.. things have been very busy around here the last few weeks..

We finished 102 in school and I ended up with a 90% in the class.. but 5 people didn't pass the class and were removed from the program.. that's rather scary.. 5 people out of 30.. we're down to 25 people. We started 103 right after that one and we are about a week or so into it. I'm doing pretty well but this is the class that scares me, it's all of the procedures that they teach you as a CNA.. it's the basics you ahve to know before you can start clinicals. After I finished the CNA training back in 2002 I took the test and passed the written with no problem.. the practicum was what I failed.. I don't want to fail this time around.. this is SO important.. Ughhhh pressure!!! We went to a Hospice center on Friday.. I have to write an essay on it and pallative care this weekend and turn it in on Tuesday when we go back. Not a big deal.

Doug started work on Monday. He likes it well enough :) He has Monday off too but it's PAID! YAY!!!! He'll get his first paycheck on the 15th and we will be able to start getting caught up on bills finally YAY!!!! I'm so proud of him for getting the Comcast job.. and I know he's looking forward to the benefits :) It's been hectic trying to fall into a routine of whoe goes where and when but I think we finally got it!

The baby started daycare on Monday.. last Friday he got sick.. Saturday he had a 102 fever and was really lethargic.. found out he's got an ear infection so he's on antibiotics for it and doing much better. He LOVES the daycare which is good. We've been having a few minor snags with the daycare but nothing major..

Anyway we aren't really doing anything this weekend other than spending time together and relaxing but I thought I would write and update while I have a chance... .who can believe it's September already!

Cheli On Monday, August 21, 2006

OK yeah so it's apparently been a while since I updated... oops..

We had a final today in our College Math class.. I got a 95 on the final and my final grade was 94. :) So now we are just doing Fundamentals 102 for the next week.. we have a final in that next Monday. We just started the class last Tuesday.. they really move quick in this school. We go to the Hospice center on Thursday and then we get CPR certified on Friday. WOOO HOOO. Then we'll be ready to start clinicals in September. YAY

River is doing great. He's pulling himself into a standing position on everything he can get ahold of now. He still won't sit up unassisted but that's mostly because if he's sitting he's stationary and he hates to be stationary.

Doug starts work on Monday.. which means River starts daycare and things really start getting hectic. We're taking him up to the daycare sometime this week so I can get used to the idea of leaving him there and so he can get used to the idea of being there. *sniff* I don't want to but I know we don't have another choice. *sniff* Anyone want to move down here and be a full time baby sitter?

Well I need to go get things ready for tomorrow and then go to bed. I'll talk to everyone soon.

River was scheduled to have his 6 month WBV yesterday at 10. At 9 am we get a call from the doctors office *the same one he has had since Birth* saying that they don't take the type of insurance we have so they have to cancel. We asked if we could pay out of pocket and they will not accept cash because we have insurance. How fucked up is that?? So because they decided not to tell us until an hour before his appointment we don't get to get his appointment done today.. I am BEYOND pissed. We are calling the doctor that they say he HAS to see even though we've never even heard of the doctor before an our lives. Whatever.. I hate being poor
So we took him to the other pediatrician so that we could continue the same shot schedule that we are on until we could get stuff straightened out with the insurance.. which I did. The pediatrician was awful.. never asked us any questions about the baby or anything just did his measurements and gave him a small physical and shots and send us on our way.. we won't need to go back there though because we get to start going to his regular pediatrician again WOOO HOOO. So he weighed River at 19 1/2 lbs and 27 inches.. didn't sound right to me so I called his normal pediatrician and they let us bring River in to be weighed and measured on the scale that we normally have him on. His official measurements are:
Weight : 18 lbs 10 (50th %)
Height : 26 3/4 inches (50th %)
Head: 17 inches (25th %)
We'll see his normal pedi on the 7th of September to discuss how he is developing and when we are going to challenge him on the formula. We'll make his 9 month appt then.

It's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! Week 3 is done. YAY!!! We got another test grade in A&P today.. I got a 92. My average is now like a 95 or something, not that it matters because the final makes up 50%. Finaly is on Friday. Math sucks.. we had our first test in it yesterday.. they are multiple choice math test.. WTH??? Who the hell gives multiple choice math tests?? And there were a bunch of errors on the test and the questions were worded weird but the teacher wigged out when everyone didn't do as well as she expected. I got an 88. Whatever.. I've gotten 2 chapters worth of work back in that class.. a 100 on the first and a 94 on the second.. she completely picks it apart.. any little error she finds (including labeling your answers) she deducts for it. UGHHH. And we have her for the next 3 classes or next month and a half.. FUN FUN. *sigh* It's all good.. it's FRIDAY!

We are going over to a friends house tomorrow to go swimming in her pool.. hopefully River will like it more than he did in the spring fed pool because it won't be as cold. We're going to BBQ or something. Should be fun :) The Sunday we are all going to Linda's work to help her get caught up because they took away her over time and what not so she's going in on her time off because she can't stand to be so far behind :( I told her we'd come and help her.

Cheli On Tuesday, August 1, 2006

Let's see...

Monday we had the final in our Fundamentals class.. I got a 83 on the final :( and a 86 as a final grade.. It's not BAD but it's definately a hell of a lot worse than I thought I was going to do.. I need to stay after and talk to the instructor but when I asked her about it yesterday she said I would have to go to the DON if I wanted to see the test because she'd already turned them over. Apparently someone else jumped all over her for their grade and pissed her off so she turned them in with out giving the rest of us a chance to see ours. Whatever.. I'll deal with the 86.. I'm doing much better in A&P than I thought I would. We had 2 tests so far.. I got a 94 on one and a 97 on the other! We have the midterm tomorrow :) We started Math today.. *yawn* I turned in all the homework for the entire class today... now I can ignore her because it's elementary mathmatics which will give me time to concentrate on A&P even though I am 5 chapters ahead in that too.. LOL We start Fundamentals 102 on the 14th.. 102 and 103 are the classes we have to get 80s in and can not remediate or we are out of the program.. no pressure :) We've already had 1 or 2 people drop out..

In other news.. Doug got hired on with Comcast Call Center today as Tech Support.. A job he will really love! The training class doesn't start until August 28th though so we'll have to figure out how to make it until then.. And the class is 9am to 5 pm when he does start so we'll have to put River in daycare for at least the month and a half that he is in training. *sigh* But the job pays significantly higher than Doug has been making which will really helps us make it through the next year. Hopefully once Doug is out of the training class he'll be on evenings or nights so the baby can come out of daycare. I really don't want him in daycare so we're going to see about hiring a temp nanny or something not that I like that any better. *sigh*

Well I have to be up at 5:40 tomorrow to go to a study group before the midterm so I better go to bed..

Cheli On Saturday, July 29, 2006

YAY!!!!! It's the weekend!!! I love the weekends!

I have to study alot this weekend though. First final on Monday. Math starts Tuesday (what a joke that is.. they actually had a homework problem in Chapter one that was 7+6), and lots of A&P homework to do plus a midterm on Tuesday. WOO HOOO. Moving right along :) I should find out Monday what my final grade for Fundamentals 101 was. The final is 50% of our final grade.. no pressure LOL

River is doing great.. we had to put up the baby gate yesterday for the first time and he was none to thrilled about being stuck on one side of it.. nevermind the fact that he has the ENTIRE living room and his bedroom to play in.. he wanted on the otherside of that gate.. so we put him on the other side of the gate and he just stayed still because he had no idea what to do :)

He can finally keep himself in a sitting position.. can't quite pull himself into one yet but he's getting there :) Here is a picture for you all :)

And a bonus picture just because I think it's so damn cute LOL

Cheli On Wednesday, July 26, 2006

Tired... so tired...

Fundamentals 101 is almost over.. Final on Monday.

Started Anatomy and Physiology this past Monday.. I hate it.. hate it with a passion. 2 chapters every day Until the final on August 11th.

We start Algebra next Tuesday.. fun fun..

We have a test tomorrow in BOTH classes.. YAY *sigh*

Everything else is pretty good.. River is all over the place and back again.. Doug is working alot.. they changed his shift on him with no notice so now we are scrambling to find him something else because our shifts don't mesh well right now and we don't see each other Monday through Friday.

I feel cut off from EVERYONE. Haven't talked to Sarah since Ummmm.. too long. Haven't talked to K in a while either.. I miss conversation with friends but I have NO time anymore. SUCKS!

My grandmother called me and told me she is going to buy River the Britax carseat we wanted. It's a convertible carseat which means it can face forward and backward depending on the kids needs. It hold kids from 5 lbs up to 65 lbs. And best of all he'll be able to sit in a more upright position.. Thank Goddess because he absolutely hates the carrier.

Already starting to hear crap from the others on how they never get any time.. blah blah. Someone came out at school earlier today when we were trying to study.. I think it was Analise? not sure.. saw the text and banged her head against the desk (because that's an effective way to get back inside). Ended up with a headache.. stupid girl. So of course she disappears back inside and leaves me with a headache and the school work.. this feels ALOT like high school only more work.. LOL

Cheli On Sunday, July 23, 2006

OMG River started crawling today!!!! Goddess help us all!!!!

He is so cute about it though.. very determined.. I give it a few days before he's REALLY moving.

Cheli On

The 4th was nice :) We went to a local elderly complex where they were holding a big festival thing on the water. We went around 1 and watched a parade. River was amused by the sights but wasn't too sure about the police and fire truck sirens.. Doug was impressed by the candy people threw and chased after it like the 5 year old next to us LOL After the parade was over everyone turned around and looked into the sky over the river just in time to see Discovery launch :) It was pretty neat seeing the launch :)

We came home after that to give the munchkin a chance to nap and for us to hopefully miss the 90 degree heat until later in the evening when we went back to the river to watch the fireworks show.. it was BEAUTIFUL. Perfectly clear sky. River did wonderful. He got a little fussy before the started because he was bored and getting tired and they started 30 minutes late. But once they started he watched them intently for about 5 minutes completely mesmerized by them and then promptly fell asleep until afterward. We got home about 10:30 and River was miserably tired. Poor kid..

Yesterday was Doug's first full evening on the job. He left at 3:45 and got home about 3:30am. It was a LONG night but really not too bad. River did really well going to bed last night so mommy got time to chill before heading to bed. Things are getting better... easier.. slowly.

Cheli On Saturday, July 22, 2006

I'm tired.. I should be in bed but I'm not. Why does it seem like there is not enough hours in the day anymore? Who stole them?

I studied for about 3 hours tonight, much needed. I have a quiz on Monday for our chapter 3 test for Foundations of Nursing. Midterm is on Tuesday and Finals a week from Monday. I'll be glad when this class is gone because it's boring but I'll miss it as well because it gives me time to relax some after the morning of A&P which I am sure I am going to seriously need. The A&P instructor came in on Friday and handed us our syllibus to go over.. we are going through 2 chapters every day we are in the class. 25 chapters in 3 weeks. OMG. So last night I sat down and read chapter 1 of the text. Read it again today. Then spent an hour answering 20 pages of questions and charts on medical terminology. It's a good thing I have a near photographic memory.. or else I'd be screwed. I have a feeling we're going to seriously lose some people in the upcoming weeks. I'm going to tackle chapter 2 tomorrow and do a bit more studying for the Fundamentals test.

Sara (my niece) is here for the weekend. It's nice having her here but it's tiring. I feel bad for her because Linda is too tired to do much (although she took us all bowling and out to eat tonight). And I'm busy studying and Doug doesn't want to do much besides the computer or TV so she's been a bit bored. I'm trying to include her in things though. She helped me study some tonight, she was REALLY into it. LOL She's so cute. She goes back to her dad on Sunday to finish the rest of summer vacation before returning to her mother.

River is doing good :) Getting big... nothing new really. Still trying to crawl. Still to lazy to sit up on his own. Loves to stand holding on to something unassisted though. Sleeps great. Eats great, loves his baby food (well some of it). He goes August 8th for his 6 month well baby visit. I'll update on how big he is then.

Cheli On Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Today I was trying to keep River happy and awake as long as possible so Doug might have a chance in hell of getting sleep tomorrow.. River did NOT want to stay awake. I put him in his jumperoo to watch one of the shows he likes thinking it would help him stay away.. after about 10 minutes I heard the same note from his jumperoo music over and over and over again.. i figure he's got his hand pressed down or something.. I turn to look at him and this is what I saw.....

Cheli On Tuesday, July 18, 2006

I have survived through the first two days of school. OMG is it going to be a long 13 months! The first day the instructor for this class gave us a 2000 page book and 5 chapters of homework. My dumbass thought they were due Friday.. I'm on Chapter 5 now. They are due periodically between Wednesday and NEXT Friday. Oh well it'll be nice to not have to worry about the homework for a few days. We start Anatomy and Physiology on Monday. Woo hooo! Something different, hopefully something more structured.. the instructor teaching us Fundamentals of Nursing has NO idea what she's doing with anything.. we are probably teaching her. She says she's been a nurse for 14 years and has been teaching at Concorde for 2 1/2.. I don't see how. I'm bored in the class.. it's alot of note taking that I can just highlight in the book in save my hand the discomfort. And then there is alot of nothing time. We get a break every hour for 10 minutes plus a 40 minute lunch. The instructor has to leave the room at least once an hour because she forgot something or doesn't know how to do something. We've had umpteen interuptions trying to get Financial Aid squared away for everyone and uniforms etc etc.. I know it's just first week crap but UGHHHH I want to get going with the fun stuff already.

The second day was a little better. We did some math.. everyone but me seemed to be totally lost on what to do on BASIC math problems. I don't know how they are going to make it in this class if they can't do basic math.. what are they going to do when it comes time to do algebraic equations to figure out dosing amounts? We watched some dumb video on test taking tactics.. basic stuff that people have been telling you since High School *shrug* I did homework while it played. She let us go about 15 minutes early. I took the wrong way home and it took me 15 extra minutes because of traffic.

River was a bit thrown off by the shift in things yesterday was crabby and cranky earlier than usual and didn't want to go to bed. Today he's back to his lovey little self YAY! I missed him like HELL the last few days.. being apart from him SUCKS. It also sucks that I never get to see Doug.. yesterday and Today I got to see him for 45 minutes a piece.. it'll be that way every day Monday-Thursday for the next 13 months.. *sigh*
