It's been a while since I've updated. So I figured I'd go ahead and update now.

Tomorrow is my last day of my 4th semester and then I have a 4 day weekend WOO HOOO. When I come back on Wednesday we start Professional Development and Mother/Baby. I'm SO psyched. It will also be the beginning of our 5th and final semester. Only 83 days left or something like that. YAY!!!!

Yesterday was very interesting, we went and toured the morgue :) I thought of Shawn the entire time and wished I could have taken pictures but they made us turn our cell phones off before we were allowed through the door :( It was definately an experience. The first place he took us was to the room where they do autopsies on decomposed bodies. We were standing out on the loading dock and the smell was awful.. he tells us he'll open the door if anyone wants a whiff and a peak LOL so he did and boy oh boy what a site.. 2nd place we went was the nondecomposed body autopsy room.. no smell.. very cool! We got to go right up to the cadaver and view him.. very cool. I'm glad for the experience but I could NEVER NEVER NEVER do that job.

Then today Doug goes into work. Works for 3 hours.. Calls me at 9:30 and says he's been fired. :( Apparently he missed too much time with the baby being as sick as he has been and they let him go even though hes given them doctor's notes for every absence. *sigh* I don't know what we're going to do. Doug filed for unemployment, we'll see if he gets it. I went out today and put in a few applications with nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the local area. We'll see. We're so close.. only a few months left.

River is doing okay. He hates bedtime. He hates caving in to going to sleep. His teeth have been hurting him alot lately too *he has 4 all coming up at the same time and another 2 trying to break through*. He can say "Night Night", "Dada", "Mama", and his favorite...."Ut oh"LOL It's too cute for words. He has really been into trying out new foods lately. Pretty much everything we put down he'll attempt to try a bite at least which is all we ask.

River had his 15 month WCV today.
He is 11.6 Kg *25 lbs 2 oz* and 32 inches tall and his head is 19 1/4 inches. :) He is in the 75th-90th percentile for his height and head circumference and in the 50th for his weight.
He got 3 shots, we refused the Varicella again. He cried for 2.5 seconds and then was over it.
He failed the hearing test in his right ear and has a bunch of drainage coming from it, his left ear passed but she said the tube is clogged with wax or something so she gave us drops to use in both ears for a week and wants to see him back on the 29th for a recheck.
She is going to refer him to an endocrinologist/ allergist to further testing. (YAY!!)
Otherwise he goes back August 13th for his 18 month WCV

Today was a great Mother's day.. We didn't do alot but spent alot of time together which was wonderful! We went out to dinner at a Sushi resturant. River had Grilled Tofu, Seaweed Salad, and Sushi. He INHALED it! But the best part of the whole day was just spending time with my baby!

River is sick again... not that this really comes as a surprise to anyone because it seems like he gets sick in cycles. Sick for a few days or a week, feel better for a week or two, sick for a few days or a week... etc.. Yesterday I got a call from the daycare that River was running a 101.6 temp. He had to be picked up. So I pick him up and bring him home and his temp it 102.5. I put him down for a nap until we had to leave to go to his ENT appointment.

The ENT checked his ears which look perfect and then checked his throat and says he has "thick white patches on his tonsils". She did a throat culture right there to test for Group A Strep and drew up paperwork for a bunch of lab work. So we had to go to Baptist Medical Center last night to have it drawn. She is checking to see if there is something going on with his immune system that is causing him to get sick so much.

The blood draw was HORRIBLE. I've been in the room when other kids have had blood draws. I've had to help hold down other babies who needed blood work.. but there is something about holding down your own kid and looking in his face as he screams and begs for "mama". And You are mama. He broke my heart but I didn't cry. The lady who drew the blood had a really hard time... River has the "battle wounds" to prove it. She got him in one arm once, the hand twice, and the other arm twice before she was able to get a good vein and we were able to keep him still. I never want to go through that again :( As soon as it was over I gave him a sippie cup of milk and rocked him and by the time we hit the hallway to leave he was chattering away.

We didn't get home from the hospital yesterday until 9:30. River was in bed by 10 and is just getting up now. Here's hoping he feels better today.
