And last night Journey slept a 6 hour stretch, woke up and ate, went back to sleep and slept another 3 hours. WOOT. Life it good today..

Journey man is 6 weeks old today. WOW. It flew by. He is doing very well. Breast feeding is going great which is a huge huge relief. I've even been able to build up a little bit of stored milk for when I pick up shifts for work. Journey still has his days and nights confused but we're trying to rectify that. He thinks he needs to be held 24/7 which wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that we need sleep too. Doug slept on the couch with him last night so I could get a few hours of solid sleep since I am working tonight and tomorrow. I feel rested, i think? I'm still tired but I know I got sleep so whatever. Little man has some great head control and has decided to use it recently. He loves looking around and he's so alert all the sudden. The fun is about to begin :) He hasn't smiled yet but he did roll over this week from his tummy to his back :) YAY Journey! We should be hearing some time today from the cardio surgeon in regards to Journey's surgery date.. Here's a picture of Journey from yesterday. I totally love his outfit. It's a newborn Carter's sleeper but it's got vibrant colors which you never find with Carters stuff for newborns.

River is doing great. He blows me away with how smart he is. He knows all of his basic colors now. He knows most of his shapes. He can count to 10. He recognizes some numbers by sight. He is learning his ABCs. He's amazing. He also has taken to singing lately.. his song of choice "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and it's the cutest thing in the entire world. He has an obession with cars still and loves his baby brother. He has suddenly become very protective of him.. always wanting to help, always trying to get him to stop crying, wants to give him kisses. It's awesome :) He's starting to show more interest in the potty but we totally aren't pushing it right now.. we're letting him lead us. He's only 25 months so I figure we have a while yet before we get into potty training full on.

This thursday is my bankruptsy hearing. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm ready to put it behind me. Doug and I are caught up in all of our bills right now and are in a place where we can start putting money away each month to move back to Tennessee. We are so ready. I'm planning on meeting with an admissions councelor for an on line nursing program this weekend. It's a go at your own pace program for most of the program so It's possible that I could be an RN by this time next year :) WOOT. Doug started his last module at school yesterday. He graduates in 4 weeks. 9 months has flown by. He's getting nervous about his national test but I know he'll do great. Dare I say it but I think we might have finally turned the corner in our lives and are going in the right direction finally...

So i think that's my update for the week. Will update later.

Well it took 25 months for me to break down and do it but we took River for his first haircut today. He did BEAUTIFULLY! The lady who did his hair was wonderful. She made him her special helper and let him hold a basket of different clipper heads (even though she didn't actually need them) and would ask him " can I have the blue one, green one, purple one...". He sat still, didn't look around much, didn't cry, didn't freak, he was such a big boy! We didn't cut it short but we got rid of a bunch of the fly aways. And cut his bangs.. he has green eyes, who knew LOL
Anyway here are pictures for your enjoyment :)

Journey had a cardiology appointment today. It's a followup from the murmur check last month. He had a repeat echo.
First the good news.. he is 9 lbs 5.6 oz and 20 inches long now! That is a 2 lb weight gain in 4 weeks :) hehe YAY!! This makes me feel so good because I know he's getting plenty to eat :)
Now the not so good news... his murmur is getting worse. Which we knew was a possiblity. The doctor told us that 50% of babies get better on their own and 50% require some sort of surgery. His is getting bad enough that the doctor wants the procedure done sometime in the next month. The cardiologist said that there are 2 surgeons in the area that could do it but he would rather send Journey to Gainesville to the huge hospital there where there is a pediatric cardio surgeon who specializes in this procedure. He is sending the paperwork and echos and everything over to Gainesville for the other doctor to take a look and give his opinion on it but pretty much he knows the other doctor will agree. So we'll schedule it next week sometime and it will probably be for about 2 or 3 weeks from now. We'll have to spend the night in Gainesville at the hospital because it requires an over night stay since he will be put under.. I'm spazing out. I had a big problem with my 11 month old being put under for tubes in his ears.. now my 2 month old will be going under for a catherization in his heart.
So yeah.. that's our update..

Cheli On
Hmmm I guess this is turning into a routine of once a week updates LOL.

Journey is 4 weeks old today. He'll be a month old tomorrow. It's flown by. Sleep deprivation and 2 kids really makes time fly. LOL I fall more in love with this little boy every day he's here. He is beautiful and precious and the perfect addition to our family. We are trying to teach him that he doesn't need to be held 24/7, that is okay to be put down for short periods of time so mommy can regain feeling in her arm but he highly disagrees with that whole scenario and mommy can't stand to listen to him cry so it's an epic battle of wills in which I'm losing miserably. He is wearing disposables at the moment because the cloth diapers are giving him a major diaper rash. I don't know if it's a sensitivity to a certain fabric, the detergent (I don't think it's this one), or what but we're trying to figure it out. My plans today include striping all the diapers and hoping that that works. I think we might need to get some more fitted diapers for him and change him every hour instead of every 1 1/2-2 hours. BLAH we're allready doing a TON of laundry. I forgot one little person could produce so much laundry. Breastfeeding is going great. It appears that Journey does not share River's allergy to milk protein as I haven't had to alter my diet much. I did lower my intake of dairy just incase but I'm still eating some and it doesn't seem to be affecting him in the least. YAY! He is a very strong little boy, he has great head control considering he's only 4 weeks and has learned how to get up on his side when he's placed on his belly so I don't think it's going to be much longer before he learns to roll over. It'd be alot quicker if he'd let us give him tummy time more often.

River is doing okay. I thought we were going to skip the whole jealousy thing but within the last week it's definately shown up with a vengence. He loves Journey though, won't hurt him or anything but he doesn't like the attention that we have to give to Journey and will try and demand our attention away from the baby by acting up. We've had to do alot of time outs recently which SUCKS but I think slowly he's learning that the rules still apply and that we're not going to allow him to behave like that. Each day is getting a little better. There are less fits, less whining, less acting out. We'll get there. He is so unbelievably smart it scares me.
  • He can count to 4 now and really like saying 8 and 10 but the other numbers confuse him.
  • Every morning when he's getting dressed and we help with his shirt, when it goes over his head he goes "Wee-ver" (River) as in "where's River" it's so cute in little voice
  • His vocabulary has exploded recently. I can't even keep up with how many new words he knows. He's becoming easier and easier to understand and has learned to talk in short sentences
  • He has an uncanny obsession with cars. And will point out every car he sees when we are out.
  • The other day he was watching a sign language video for kids. They signed the word "more" and then the next word was "cookie" so he runs to me and says "Momma, cookie!" and signed more. I was shocked. I showed him "more" and said the word and he seemed to understand. He got a cookie anyway LOL
  • He's trying to open doors on his own but can't quite figure out the mechanics of turning and pulling at the same time. We've taken to locking the front door whenever we are in the house with dead bolt because he won't have the strength for a long while to reach it
There was more i wanted to update but the baby is waking up to eat so I'll have to update more later.. stay tuned for some pictures.

We took the boys today for their professional portraits. Journey is 3 weeks old and River is 2 years. River wanted NOTHING to do with the camera or the photographer. So we only managed to get 1 picture of him that came out decent. Journey wasn't real impressed with the whole being posed thing either but we managed to get some cute pictures of him. Anyway... enjoy...

It is 1pm and BOTH boys are sleeping! River is in his bed in his room with NO rain maker playing for the first time in 2 years, asleep. Journey is on his activity mat, sleeping, with out anyone holding him for the first time in his 3 weeks of life. Please note the time and date as I'm sure it will be a long time before this happens again. LMAO
